Salary Range : $66,500 - $99,700 Annual

The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible.

Optavise, a CNO Financial Group Company is seeking a Registered Nurse Advocate to take on a pivotal position where you provide essential support and education to our team of advocates and members. In this capacity, you'll leverage your clinical expertise to aid members in navigating various health-related inquiries and obstacles, spanning chronic diseases, acute conditions, hospital procedures, and preventive care. Serving as a vital link between physicians, insurance companies, and members, you'll orchestrate care, procure second opinions, access medical records, provide insights into insurance coverage, and ensure members are thoroughly informed about their medical choices.

Additionally, you will support our team of advocates by offering educational assistance and lending your subject matter expertise to the billing, claims, and appeals processes, advocating for our members every step of the way. This is your opportunity to utilize your experience in a remote setting. You'll meet the needs of individuals in a non-clinical environment.

As a Registered Nurse Advocate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a caseload to meet member clinical service needs while adhering to quality protocols and standards.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of member needs and develop personalized plans to address them effectively.

  • Evaluate prior authorization requests for medical necessity and review medical records for insurance appeals.

  • Work closely with members, their attending physicians, and families to determine and implement care plans, adjusting as needed.

  • Coordinate referrals to other disciplines or community resources to ensure comprehensive member care.

  • Collaborate with advocates to resolve claims and billing issues and evaluate CPT codes.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all interactions and interventions using proprietary case management platform.

  • Stay informed about current nursing practices through continuous education and literature review.

  • Partner with leadership to optimize processes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

The Registered Nurse Advocate position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of health insurance claims and the billing process.

  • Have proficient knowledge of pharmacy benefits, including familiarity with alternatives for accessing prescriptions such as coupons and comparison sites like GoodRx.

  • Listen to effectively comprehend and make confident decisions.

  • Educate members and their families effectively.

  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional organizational abilities.

  • Handle highly confidential information professionally, adhering strictly to all HIPAA regulations.

  • Show meticulous attention to detail and a highly organized approach to tasks.

  • Demonstrate a capacity for exercising mature, independent judgment.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution

  • Active registered nurse (RN) license in [state/country of employment].

  • Three years of experience in nursing, experience with insurance claims/appeals and CPT code knowledge.

What will set you apart:

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) preferred.

  • 5 to 7 years nursing experience.

  • Experience in case management and grievance procedures is highly desirable.

Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Orlando and Milwaukee) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically.
