TITLE: IT Optavise Internship – Summer 2025
LOCATION: Remote: Eastern or Central Time Zone
Optavise, a CNO Financial Group Company, is seeking an IT Intern specializing in software engineering. This program is designed to provide college students with practical, hands-on development experience in IT within a public insurance company.
As an IT Intern you will work in one of three key areas of IT:
Development: You will work as part of an Agile team to deliver value to the organization. Areas of interest include Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, Perl and Data Delivery.
Information Security (aka cybersecurity): Evaluate existing processes regarding corporate adherence to security protocols, and adoption of CNO security rules and standards. Review documentation and on-boarding protocols for the Security team.
CNO offers training and experience using various tools/applications including Tableau, Splunk, Automation Anywhere, PEGA, Visio, and ArchiMate.
As an IT Intern, your responsibilities will include:
Engage with Business/IT stakeholders
Update, modify, develop and work to automate reports
Perform code review and adhere to code quality standards.
Produce and participate in the design, analysis and presentation of work outputs
Collaborate with business, solution architecture, testing and development team
Responsible for creating product backlog items, work items, and managing work execution.
Expected to attend and participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews/product demos, and sprint retrospectives.
This is a paid internship, at competitive rates between $23-$25/hour depending on your work location. Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off.

Qualified candidates for an IT Intern position will have:
Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in, computer science, informatics, software development, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity or any information systems related discipline
Currently enrolled student with status as a junior or senior, and anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027.
Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
Availability to work mid-May through early August 2025
Proficient understanding and functional knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, and Perl.
Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and as a motivated team player
Ability to be organized and prioritize work; seek direction as appropriate
Good interpersonal & consultative skills
Strong written and verbal communication
