CNO Financial Group Senior Infrastructure Administrator - Ottawa, CAN in Ottawa, Ontario
DirectPath, a CNO Financial Group company, is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Administrator to lead in the deployment, maintenance and on-going management of the server environment. In addition, the Senior Infrastructure Administrator will have primary responsibilities for the deployment, maintenance, and on-going management of the server environments. This will include working with Linux, Windows, VMWare, along with Server and SAN hardware. The Senior Infrastructure Administrator will perform pro-active monitoring of the environment, present and implement pro-active strategies to address trends and perform complex problem determination on various information technologies including: Linux (predominantly CentOS), Windows, VMWare, SAN (Dell EqualLogic), Networking (Cisco), Load Balancer environment and also includes after hours on-call support.
As a Senior Infrastructure Administrator , your responsibilities will include:
Provide day-to-day support of all IT infrastructure systems, including all operational procedures such as device patching, backup, and monitoring
Perform on-going maintenance and management of the server, SAN and VMWare environments
Bring domain expertise in the areas of Virtualization (VMWare), Linux, and Windows
Perform complex problem determination to identify and address issues
Monitor, manage and plan capacity of the technology stack
Participate in on-call rotation
Act as a technical expert for other IT teams regarding infrastructure technologies
Address architectural, systems performance, capacity, and reliability issues associated with IT projects and initiatives where required
Consult on IT technical solution development
Participate in the evaluation of proposed systems and applications to determine information security or data integrity implications
Develop and maintain distributed automated information technology systems
Assist colleagues and staff, company-wide, in troubleshooting and resolving network and network security issues
Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor degree in computer science or a related field
7+ years of experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu)
5+ years of experience with VMWare
Strong experience with management and implementation of Servers, Cabling, Racks, DNS, QoS, Virtualization, vMotion, SAN Storage (EqualLogic experience is an asset)
Proven experience in developing and executing plans, meeting deadlines and operating under tight time constraints
Minimum of 7 years' experience in IT working in the area of infrastructure implementations
Experience with automation tools such as SaltStack, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
Candidates must be within a commutable distance of Ottawa (approx. 60 miles or 96.5 km) for end user support and participation in an on-call rotation.
Ability to work in a cross functional environment with minimal supervision
Ability to provide guidance to team members on projects and problem analysis
Ability to initiate and participate in internal projects in support of strategic and operational goals
Must be able to lift heavy data center equipment
Hands on experience in managing HA environment
Knowledge of Load Balancer/F5 technologies is a plus
Knowledge of Cisco networking is a plus
