CNO Financial Group Benefits Operation Analyst- Remote in Central or Eastern Time Zone in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

CNO’s Worksite division/Optavise is hiring a Benefits Operations Analyst to manage, analyze, and translate all client benefit information provided in employer plan documents into Optavise’s proprietary operating systems. This role is also responsible for providing consultative assistance to internal customers to help service the member or client needs based on the information made available to Optavise. This role is the bridge between our internal systems and our external members, serving as an analytical resource to Optavise teams to provide accurate, understandable, and quality benefit information.

As a Benefits Operations Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the accurate intake and organization of client benefit information and data through the Optavise client channels, including Insite, Salesforce, Implementation Portal, or other means.

  • Translate employer benefit programs so that the information can be used effectively by the Advocacy and Transparency team to navigate member inquiries.

  • Ensure benefit plans are administered according to plan provisions and company's regulatory guidelines through the accurate translation of member-specific data that accompanies the benefit information (copays, out-of-pocket max, HSA limits, etc) and appropriate allocation of that data in the supporting systems so that members receive concierge-level support from the Optavise team.

  • Work with internal Optavise teams (Member Operations and Client Operations) to resolve issues regarding eligibility and claims.

  • Provide consultation and subject matter expertise to manage through the benefit decision making process. This includes understanding situations in which members may choose one policy over another and being able to advise clients when asked about comparator policy information.

  • Provide ongoing analysis on trends, legislative changes, and best practices within the benefits field. and Provide recommendations to internal stakeholders who will make that information available to clients (Account Management, Sales, Client Delivery.) Example includes analysis of how high claims may be avoidable with different employer benefit program coverage/strategy.

  • Responsible for supporting Senior Benefits Analyst and internal teams who manage client accounts by requesting and analyzing data from various vendors, researching compliance issues, and evaluating benefit plans and programs.

  • Follow up with Account Managers, Client Delivery, brokers and clients to obtain timely and accurate documentation.

  • Assist Advocates and Specialists with questions related to benefits, claims, eligibility, network, enrollment, exceptions, and online portals.

  • Participate in benefit information audits to ensure quality in all data collected in the Optavise systems.

  • Support high-touch clients and brokers by completing Implementation Guides and InSite portal to ensure all benefit information is complete in all Optavise systems.

The Benefits Operations Analyst position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Effectively translate complex healthcare nomenclature and in-depth understanding of state and local laws governing leave such as ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA to ensure compliance that may impact employer programs.

  • Possess subject matter level expertise of health insurance benefits (including plans and providers for medical, dental, LTD, vision, etc.) and benefit documentation.

  • Effectively use internal systems to manage member data in Salesforce including census file management, new members, members not found, and member-to-plan mapping.

  • Develop strong working relationships and collaborate with a cross-functional group of partners, both internal and external

  • Know state and federal laws and regulations about the processing of health and retirement benefits.

  • Present information clearly and in a manner that is understandable to managers and employees and to answer questions.

  • Demonstrate professional writing skills for reports and benefits information.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources desired or equivalent experience in a health insurance/employer benefits field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in benefits processes and planning. Experience in Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Life, Health & Annuity Required Licensing and Coverage (Company will support applicants with obtaining license)

  • Active resident state health and life insurance license

  • Non-resident licenses as required for client assignment (company paid)

  • Active errors and omissions insurance (company paid)

  • Ability to be appointed by all major insurance carriers

  • Thorough understanding of health care delivery, previous experience with medical benefits and claims for either provider or payor perspective.

  • Previous experience in role using technology, multi-tasking and written/verbal communication is used to drive daily responsibilities.

  • Excellent analytical skills to research and evaluate benefits programs to make informed choices.

CNO Financial Group offices are reopening in April 2022 and we will be pursuing a hybrid working model. Associates who live within a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and Milwaukee) will have access to come into that Office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. This role is full time work from home (WFH), also known as Remote. This role can be performed from any US based location within the central or eastern time zone. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
