CNO Financial Group Corporate Communications Intern - Summer 2023 in Chicago, Illinois

CNO’s Corporate Communications Intern program is designed to introduce college students to the application of writing & communications skills at a leading insurance company. This is a paid internship, at competitive rates. The Memorial Day and 4 th of July holidays are paid days off.

As a Corporate Communications Intern in the CNO Financial Group you have an opportunity to gain valuable communication skills while helping CNO increase its internal and external visibility. You will have the ability to interact with CNO leaders and help create communication between the company and its many associates and help with planning company events, writing press releases, and creating media kits and digital campaigns.

As a Corporate Communications Intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist team in the development, execution and management of proactive public relations strategies including drafting media materials, including but not limited to press releases, fact sheets, briefing sheets and pitches.

  • Perform media monitoring and tracking.

  • Implement day-to-day internal communication activities for CNO.

  • Support team with company award and recognition programs by submitting and completing award applications, including the Great Place to Work.

  • Work closely with team to create fun, creative ways to share news about CNO internally and externally.

  • Participate in client brainstorms and program ideation.

  • Interact with senior leadership and business leaders to align communications across the company.

We sustained our internship program, hosting interns during the summers of 2020 and 2021, despite the global pandemic!

The CNO 2023 internship program will run May 15-August 4, 2023. During this period, we offer programming that compliments the learning provided by the department through work and other activities such as

  • Networking

  • Leader Talks

  • Career Counseling

  • Development Opportunities

  • Insurance Product and Industry Presentation Series

  • An in-person event at one of our Corporate offices during the last week of July

  • Final Presentations

  • Volunteering Event

Qualified candidates for a Corporate Communications Intern position will have:

  • Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR or communications, or a related discipline

  • Current status as a rising junior or rising senior, with anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and June 2025.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Strong writing skills

  • Social media knowledge

  • Manage time to complete work timely and accurately

  • Ability to work independently and as a motivated team player

  • Ability to be organized and prioritize work; seek direction as appropriate

  • Availability to work 40 hours/week during the period of May 15-August 4, 2023

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Office products

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Please note that the Company does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to these positions or to provide these positions as OPT or CPT.

CNO Financial Group is pursuing a hybrid working model. For students residing within 60 miles of their affiliated Office (Carmel or Chicago), interns will have access to come into the office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged. For interns not residing within 60 miles of their affiliated Office, CNO also offers this internship as full time work from home, as well.
