The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible.

CNO Financial Group’s Actuarial Department is hiring a Managing Actuary ALM (Asset Liability Management), to develop strategies to manage interest rate risk for all company products and to hedge guarantees of the Guaranteed Lifetime Withdrawal Benefit (GLWB) rider attached to the Fixed Index Annuity product.

This is your opportunity to work closely with 40|86 advisors to implement the strategies and with Actuarial Valuation to update and maintain the liability models.

As a Managing Actuary ALM (Asset Liability Management), your responsibilities will include:

  • Model, test, and evaluate strategies to manage interest rate risk and hedge equity market exposures.

  • Develop and maintain asset models used in Polysystems for strategy development and as used by Actuarial Valuation for Asset Adequacy Analyses.

  • Work with 40|86 and Valuation to coordinate and implement strategies and models.

  • Develop and maintain the programs used in the Asset Liability Management (ALM) unit.

  • Manage actuarial student and recurring responsibilities of the ALM unit assigned to the direct report (Valuation support, EIUL liability hedge data, asset modeling, net investment income allocations).

The Managing Actuary ALM (Asset Liability Management), position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Possess working experience in actuarial modeling systems, specifically Polysystems.

  • Are experience in ALM including hedging and duration management.

  • Have investment knowledge including modeling.

  • Solve challenging technical problems.

  • Have strong knowledge of life, health, and annuity products, especially Fixed Index Annuities.

  • Are an outstanding communicator (both written and verbal communication).

  • Hold solid programming skills in Excel/VBA.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics or equivalent.

  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries ASA (required).

  • Ten years of related work experience.

  • Experience with cashflow testing or project based corporate actuarial work.

  • Five years of experience specifically with ALM & asset-modeling.

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries FSA (preferred).

  • Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.

Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Carmel or Chicago) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
