CNO Financial Group Lead Developer-Insurance Admin, REMOTE from any US based location in central or eastern time zones in Carmel, Indiana

CNO Financial Group’s IT business unit is hiring a Lead Developer to work as a Lead Software Engineer and have hands on responsibility for application software development. This role will be responsible for full delivery of end-to-end systems from development through warranty support for medium to large complex enterprise-wide technology platforms. This role will work closely with the Solution Architect to understand the technical design, develop functional specifications, drive code reviews, and assume responsibility for the implementation of the solution to meet the committed dates as defined by the team.

As a Lead Developer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high level sizing estimates based on sophisticated and sometimes incomplete requirements, conduct ongoing code reviews using automated software management tools, recommend test scenarios for performance testing, and most importantly drive resolution of blocker issues faced by the team

  • Owns creation of technical artifacts ex. functional specifications to realize the design that will be consumed by the RUN team in a post-production environment

  • Coordinate with infrastructure and shared services team to setup nonproduction and production environments including test data management

  • Demonstrate deep technical expertise for development of services, modules, microservices, develop integrations with internal and external systems/services ex. APIs, 3rd party interfaces, and database

  • Decision making transformation on (SOP’s) for the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process

  • Adjust/Amend technical scope changes based on business requirements on projects.

The Lead Developer position is well-suited for you if you have:

  • Maintain relationship with Project and Program Managers, Solution Architects, Software Engineers, IT Managers, Directors, Business SMEs, Software Engineers, etc.

  • Experience working with virtual global teams building large enterprise, critically important systems

  • Provided technology solutions to complex problems

  • Can take charge of the team and coordinate workflow to consistently produce business value

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related field, or 8 years of relevant experience

  • Seven years of related work experience in software application development with growing level of responsibilities on mainframe technologies including COBOL, Assembler, VSAM, DB2, JCL, MQ series, job scheduling services ex. Zeke, Autosys, FTP/SFTP, request/response service, etc

  • Experience in Scrum development environment and Agile methodologies

What will set you apart:

  • Prior working experience in Insurance field

  • Familiarity or work experience with policy administration systems

  • Previous experience as a Senior Engineer, managing a team or growing level of responsibility in roles

This role is full time work from home (WFH), also known as Remote. This role can be performed from any US based location within the central or eastern time zone. CNO Financial Group offices reopened in April 2022 and is pursuing a hybrid working model. Associates who live within a 60 mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando and Milwaukee) will have access to come into that Office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
