CNO Financial Group IT Development Internship – Summer 2023 in Carmel, Indiana
CNO’s IT Intern program is designed to provide college students practical, hands-on development experience in IT within a public insurance company. CNO Financial is bringing back in-house development after many years of outsourcing to our vendor partners. We believe it is important to grow key skills within our company, and we see IT internships having a critical role in our ability to be successful as we embark on this new journey.
This is a paid internship, at competitive rates. The Memorial Day and 4 th of July holidays are paid days off.
As an IT Development Intern, your responsibilities will include:
Engage with Business/IT stakeholders to understand and solve real business challenges
Participate in the design, analysis, and presentation of working software
Build and modify code supporting critical business solutions
Collaborate with business, solution architecture, testing and development teams
Responsible for creating product backlog items, work items, and managing work execution
Opportunity to attend and participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews/product demos, and sprint retrospectives

We sustained our internship program, hosting interns during the summers of 2020 and 2021, despite the global pandemic!
The CNO 2023 internship program will run May 15-August 4, 2023. During this period, we offer programming that compliments the learning provided by the department through work and other activities such as

An in-person event at one of our Corporate offices during the last week of July
Qualified candidates for an IT Development Intern position will have:
Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in, computer science, informatics, software development, software engineer, data science, cybersecurity, industrial engineering or any information systems related discipline
Currently enrolled student with status as a junior or senior, and anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and December 2025.
Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
Availability to work 10-12 weeks during the summer
Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and as a motivated team player
Ability to be organized and prioritize work; seek direction as appropriate
Good interpersonal & consultative skills
Strong written and verbal communication

CNO Financial Group is pursuing a hybrid working model. For students residing within 60 miles of their affiliated Office (Carmel or Chicago), interns will have access to come into the office up to 2 days/week, and work from home at least 3 days/week. If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged. For interns not residing within 60 miles of their affiliated Office, CNO also offers a full time work from home arrangement.
To ensure accessibility to our corporate campuses, we ask that candidates for full time opportunities after graduation plan to live within a 60 mile drive of Carmel or Chicago upon graduation.
