CNO’s HR Intern program is designed to introduce college students to the application of HR and Organizational Development skills in insurance.
As an HR Organizational Development (OD) Intern, your responsibilities will include:
Play a key role in managing the intern program to ensure a positive and enriching experience for both in-person and remote summer interns.
Collaborate with HR and other departments to promote CNO's summer internship program both internally and externally.
Assist in organizing the Annual National Intern Day Event, coordinating with Senior Leadership Group (SLG) speakers, and providing feedback to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).
Approach all tasks with a focus on inclusion, while promoting overall well-being in the workplace.
This is a paid internship, at competitive rates of approx. $21/hour. The Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off. At CNO Financial, we believe interns bring new perspectives to existing challenges. The CNO Financial Intern Program gives students an opportunity to learn about CNO and network while doing important work for the organization.
The OD internship will start on May 5 and will help CNO be ready for the rest of the internship program from May and through August,. During this period, we offer programming that compliments the learning provided by the department through work and other activities such as

Qualified candidates for an HR OD Internship position will need:
Housing in or near Carmel, IN or Indianapolis, IN, with the ability to work in the office 2-3 days per week.
Progress towards a bachelor's degree in business, management, HR, industrial psychology, or a related field.
Status as a rising junior or senior, with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027.
A minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
Availability to work 40 hours per week for 13 weeks during the summer, starting May 5, 2025.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
What Will Set You Apart:
Previous internship or work experience in HR or program management.
Demonstrated leadership skills through extracurricular activities or projects.
Experience organizing and managing events or activities with peers.
Proven ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
Familiarity with inclusion practices and a focus on well-being in the workplace.
Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with supervision.

If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged. For interns not residing within 60 miles of a CNO corporate office, CNO also offers internships as fully remote / work-from-home from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.
