TITLE: HR Organizational Development Internship – Summer 2026

LOCATION: Hybrid from Carmel IN or Chicago IL

CNO’s HR Intern program is designed to introduce college students to the application of HR and Organizational Development skills in insurance.

As an HR Organizational Development (OD) Intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Play a key role in managing the intern program to ensure a positive and enriching experience for both in-person and remote summer interns.

  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to promote CNO's summer internship program both internally and externally.

  • Assist in organizing the Annual National Intern Day Event, coordinating with Senior Leadership Group (SLG) speakers, and providing feedback to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

  • Approach all tasks with a focus on our associates and interns while promoting overall well-being in the workplace.

This is a paid internship, at competitive rates of approx. $21-$23/Hour depending on location. The Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off.

The CNO HR OD 2026 internship program will run May 11 through August 7, 2026. As an OD Intern you will start a week earlier than the standard start date of May 18 to assist CNO with the onset of the rest of the internship program.

  • Insurance Product and Industry Presentation Series

  • In-person event at Carmel Corporate Office (CCO)

  • Final Presentations

  • Volunteering Event

Qualified candidates for an HR OD Internship position will need:

  • Progress towards a bachelor's degree in business, management, HR, industrial psychology, or a related field.

  • Status as a rising junior or senior, with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2028.

  • A minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Availability to work 40 hours per week for 13 weeks during the summer

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Housing in or near Carmel, IN or Indianapolis, IN, with the ability to work in the office 1-2 days per week.

  • Previous internship or work experience in HR or program management.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills through extracurricular activities or projects.

  • Experience organizing and managing events or activities with peers.

  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with senior leadership.

  • Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with supervision.

CNO embraces flexibility and encourages you to work where you’re most productive. For students residing within 60 miles of CNO’s Carmel, IN or Chicago corporate office, interns will have access to come into the office. If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged. For interns not residing within 60 miles of a CNO corporate office, CNO also offers internships as fully remote / work-from-home from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.
